We are creators of our reality, right? Well...
If we create our own lives, then why aren't we living the perfect one? The one that fits us. The one of our hopes and dreams?
And what about difficult events that happen to us, that get in our way, that sometimes stop us in our tracks, hindering our progress?
What do we do about them?
Big Changes Happen
Today I did a meditation for anxiety & fear titled 'Create Your Own Reality'.
I chose that particular meditation because this year has brought many big life changes to my world already and it's only March.
Though I have been much better at handling these big changes because of all my daily practices, prayers and mindset shifts, I still feel somewhat anxious about it all.
How could you not when your Mom passes away, your husband gets a new job opportunity and your working on a new career for yourself?
My faith has certainly carried me through with a sense of peace that I haven't experienced before in my life but my mind still wants to go into high gear with racing thoughts about starting a new career, how to get the education I need, how will I find clients? How much will it cost? When will I start seeing results of my efforts and how will it all fit together with my husbands new opportunity? ... you get the picture
UGH!
It's funny though, I also had racing thoughts that would help me deal with the changes better.
I also kept saying to myself 'don't panic, don't worry, you know God provides you with what you need. Things will work out, they always do - and they work out in ways you can't imagine yourself.
So breath! Take it all in with acceptance and appreciation. Get yourself back to your state of calm and ease, do a meditation and listen to the message that you receive.'
So I did. I played the meditation and listened intently and here's the message that came through...
Control Your Approach
We DO create our reality. Maybe we don't create the particular events that happen, but we definitely create our reactions to them based on our approach.
Huh? Wait. Our reactions come from our approach? Does that make any sense at all??
Ok, stay with me here.
You've heard the saying we can't control what happens to us but we can control how we react to it, right? (Funny, I mentioned my Mom before and she is the one that hammered this into my head)
Well, what if we focus on how we approach every day and then when difficult events happen that are out of our control, we don't get overwhelmed or stressed out or anxious because we're already in a state of mind that IS in control?
We approach every day filled with love, joy, acceptance and appreciation rather than filled with fear or anxiety.
Then when these negative events happen, we are aware of our reactions and know how to stay in the positive state of mind?
And by staying in that state, we think clearly and can see the pathways to get through them easily and calmly - creating a reality of peace and serenity.
Ahhhh, that dreamy reality.
Peace & serenity.
But how do we do this?
Practices to Use
How do we approach each day filled with love, joy, acceptance and appreciation?
Well, there are many practices you can incorporate in your daily life. You can find some of them in my blog "How to Calm the Anxiety of Change."
But the one practice that came up for me today was just to lead with LOVE instead of FEAR.
And to focus that love not just on others, but on OURSELVES FIRST.
Too often, especially as women, when we think of love we think of loving others - not of loving ourselves.
But this can be depleting if we don't love ourselves first before giving it out to others.
I'm absolutely guilty of this myself.
So today I vowed to make sure I'm loving myself as well as others.
OK, so what then?
Begin Creating Your Reality
Ok, you're in a loving state, feeling nice and peaceful but how does that create the reality of making the money you want to make, or living where you want to live, or experiencing the days you want to experience.
Well, if you don't let the worry, fear or anxiety consume your thoughts, you show yourself some love and stay focused on moving toward what you want even when these difficult outside events are going on all around you.
That is the time to start taking action. It doesn't matter if it's only 15 min's a day or an hour or two a day, just as long as it's consistent action.
This creates direction and momentum towards the direction of your dreams.
That's when events that you do want to happen come into reality.
You're creating reality through your actions and your keeping those actions moving forward rather than letting life's events take over.
Does this make sense?
I hope it helps to keep you on the track to your dreams!
